Senior Product Designer

About the role

Most product design dies in the handoff: a beautiful mockup that ships as something nobody trusts. We’re hiring a Senior Product Designer to close that gap: someone who takes an unclear, ambitious brief and turns it into an interface people genuinely rely on. Because Externo is a consulting company, you won’t polish one product forever. You’ll move across industries and problems, from a fintech dashboard one quarter to an AI copilot the next.

You’ll own products end to end: framing the problem with clients and strategists, sketching the first flow on a whiteboard, and staying on the pixels until they ship. You set the design bar for the work and you’re trusted to make the call. There are no layers of approval to design around here.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design of complex product flows across web and mobile, end to end.
  • Turn research, strategy and messy requirements into clean, minimal interfaces people can actually use.
  • Build and maintain design systems that stay consistent as teams and products grow.
  • Prototype real interactions and put them in front of real users, not just stakeholders.
  • Partner with engineers daily so what ships matches what you designed, and ships fast.
  • Present and defend your thinking directly to clients, and fold their feedback in without losing the plot.

What we’re looking for

  • 5+ years designing digital products end to end.
  • A strong portfolio that shows systems thinking and shipped work, not just pretty screens.
  • Fluency in Figma and modern prototyping tools.
  • You can defend a decision with reasoning, not just taste.
  • You’re comfortable working shoulder to shoulder with engineering, every day.
  • You stay calm switching between industries, briefs and clients.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing for AI / LLM products.
  • Motion and interaction design skills.
  • A background in strategy or user research.
  • Agency or consulting experience juggling multiple clients.

Portfolio required

This role needs a portfolio. Please attach it or paste a link when you apply (use the Resume or portfolio link field on the right). Show us two or three projects you owned end to end, and tell us what the problem was, what you decided, and what actually shipped. Real case studies beat a wall of pretty shots every time.
